Every year a special group of Jamie's staff get together to run the New York marathon in aid of Jamie's Better Food Foundation. Gathered together from all parts of the business the team consists of chefs, waiters, PA's, project managers and managers and they all have one thing in common: to run to raise money for Jamie's Foundation, this is a chance for staff to bond with their fellow staff members and to raise money for a brilliant cause. The New York marathon is by far the most popular race of its kind in the world. Nearly 2 million people line the streets of New York to cheer the runners on and the atmosphere in the city is incredibly inspiring.
Throughout the year leading up to the race the team also come together and host fundraising lunches where the chefs, graduates and apprentices from Fifteen cook for family and friends of the runners. Through the fundraising efforts and by running for the Better Food Foundation the runners help to promote Jamie's message to "Keep Cooking Skills Alive".
This year the Better Food Foundation is giving five UK residents the opportunity to run in the New York marathon as well. You will be part of a very special team running for a very special cause. There are two entry packages - return flights with entry to the race or hotel accommodation for three nights and race entry. Better Food Foundation - Food Skills for life.....
Jamie says: "My charity aims to inspire people to reconnect with food. It's all about raising awareness and individual responsibility, resuscitating dying food culture around the world and ultimately keeping cooking skills alive. Cooking is without doubt one of the most important skills a person can ever learn."
